Uncovering Project Arma Page 5
Tears formed in Shylah’s eyes. He was trusting her. He wasn’t pressuring. He was listening. “Okay.”
She spoke the word quietly. Eden nodded. It was obvious he wasn’t happy, but he was letting it be.
Once Eden left the room, Shylah spent the next hour packing. Once she was done, she headed downstairs and outside. Eden moved from his car to hers, taking the bag from her hands and stowing it in the trunk of her car.
Placing a piece of paper on her dash, Eden then took Shylah’s hands and waited for her eyes to meet his. “You drive straight to the address on that piece of paper. Don’t stop. Don’t detour. If something goes wrong, you contact me. I’ll be trailing your location with my phone. If you don’t reach the house before I step on the plane, I’m coming for you. Got it?”
Shylah nodded. “Got it.”
Moving her hands up his chest, despite the occurrences of the last twenty-four hours, Shylah’s heart felt light. “I love you, Eden. Stay safe.”
“No, you stay safe. I love you, Shylah, always.”
“Always.”
Eden’s lips touched Shylah’s before slowly separating. Climbing into the car, she started the engine and drove away, watching Eden out of her rear-view mirror. As she rounded the corner, she looked forward focusing on her destination. The next time she saw Eden there would be no more Project Arma, no more drug testing, and no more secrets.
